Italian Sinner continued his 5-0 match winning streak against Alex de Minaur to claim the Canadian Open title in Toronto.

The 21 year-old who has now won his first ATP Master 1,000 final had been a showdown of his opponent losing in Miami 2021 and 2023. But this time, he was brilliant winning in two straight sets 6-4 6-1 during the cruising match he dominantly was outstanding breaking his opponent on serve five occasions.

Although the 24 year-old Australian showed good flashes of tennis the superiority of the Italian was phenomenal in the 90 minutes match.

‘’It means a lot. It is a great result. This result makes us feel good, stronger and hungry to work even harder in future,’’ Jannik Sinner said. Also indirectly giving credit to his team-coach.

He added. ‘’ I am proud how I handled the situation. Every opponent here is tough to play against. I felt the pressure, but I think I handle it very well.

Meanwhile, in the Women’s final Jessica Pegula triumphed over Russian Ljudmila Samsonova to win her first title this year dominating play in a match that lasted less than an hour winning 6-0 6-1.

This becomes the second WTA 1,000 title for the World No. 3 who en route to the final had defeated Iga Swiatek in the semi- finals and Coco Gauff in the quarter- finals. Although, some pundits were of the opinion that her Russian opponent obviously faced a tough tasks having finished playing little more than two hours earlier in her rain –delayed semi- final against third seed Elena Rybakina.

Despite that the American female tennis star admitted after the match, it was tough handling her opponent and coming out victorious over the Russian in Montreal in the final having seen off Iga and Coco.

‘’Being able to do that and then just come out today and play a really clean match was kind of great ‘’

With the triumph Pegula becomes the first American to lift the Canadian Open since Serena Williams 2013.
