MESSI SCORES STUNNING FREE-KICK TO CLINCH VICTORY IN HIS DEBUT FOR INTER MIAMI

Lionel Mess scored a stunning free-kick in his debut for Major League Soccer side to clinch a victory in the Leagues Cup tie.

The goal scored in the fourth minute of added time was watched by an over 20,000 capacity crowd at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale including top American celebrities Serena Williams, basketball star LeBron James and some other TV stars.

The Seven time Ballon d’Or winner who was appearing for the first time for non- European club side came on as a substitute in the 54 minute triple introduction which saw former team mate at Barcelona Sergio Bosquets as part of the substitution that changed the atmosphere at the stadium in the match against Cruz Azul.

Azul had levelled scores in 65 minute with a goal scored by Uriel Antuna in the cup competition after Robert Taylor had scored for the home side in the 44 minute. The match was tilting to a one all draw  before the magical 36 year-old Argentine made the difference in the added time -94 minute.

He was brought down by Carlos Salcedo for a free-kick just outside the box in the final seconds, in his ideal range of his famous left foot.

The World Cup winner delivered in a stunning fashion, curling the ball far high to the right of goalkeeper Andres Gudino and into the top corner to the jubilation of fans at the DRV PNK Stadium.

Obviously, the atmosphere at the stadium changed with smoke bombs in Miami’s pink colour as some fans ran on to the pitch to celebrate with the former Paris Saint Germain striker who has now been officially unveiled as the club player after scoring 32 goals in 75 matches for the French club side.

Although Inter Miami are bottom of the league table it is assumed that the presence of Lionel Messi will change the fortune of the club that has former England captain David Beckham as co-owner.
