WIMBLEDON FINAL: ONS JABEUR BATTLE VONDROUSOVA FOR MAIDEN GRAND SLAM TITLE

Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur will meet Marketa Vondrousova in Women’s Wimbledon final on Saturday with both quest to win their maiden Grand Slam title at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

En ‘route to the final Jabuer enacted her form that saw her reach the final of last year’s Wimbledon which she  lost to Elyna Rybakina who triumphed in three straight sets. This time she looked a better bred fighting to better her record, she was unstoppable in the semi- final against Sabalenka winning 6 7 5-7 6 4 6 3.

Prior to that she had enacted some revenge on No. 3 seed Rybakina in the quarter finals and earlier rounds she was better over 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu and also beat two- time Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova. This interpretatively puts her as favourite to win the final.

Czech’s Marketa Vondrousova is seeking to become first unseeded woman in the Open Era to win Wimbledon. Obviously, she is not a pushover having beaten Elina Svitolina in straight sets 6 3 6 3 to reach the final. She stunned four seeded players en ‘route to the final including No. 4 seeded Pegula Jessica.

The World No. 42 is jewel being in the final for the first time, if she triumphs over Jabeur who is on the verge of becoming first Arab and North African woman to win a Grand Slam she could be called ‘Queen of All England Club’.

However, whichever way the pendulum swings both are close to making history at the green grass at the Centre Court.

Vondrousova, 24, admitted she is pleased with the input of her coach so far in this tournament and a win will definitely be a unique one. He’s going to get one. So I hope I will. Expressively we will see what happens.

Meanwhile Jabeur the ‘’Minister of Happiness’’ as she fondly called in Tunisia feels she has learnt a lot from her experience in the final in 2022 which her increasing calmness is patiently improving her game. ‘No rush’ as she is toughening herself to improve better- simply everything.The final is Saturday at the Centre Court.
