BRITISH HOPES OVER IN WIMBLEDON SINGLES AS DJOKOVIC AND SWIATEK PLAY FOURTH ROUND MATCHES
British Andy Murray, Cameron Norrie and Liam Broady were knocked out Friday coupled with the last being the defending champion Elena Rybakina’s dominant performance to win 6-1 6-1 in just 56 minutes over Katie Boulter last night.
Andy Murray’s match with Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas was serving up a spectacular under the lights on the Centre Court with the Scot having battled back after losing the first set to take a 2-1 lead in the tie. But the match was paused when it was approaching an hour before midnight, due to restrictions implemented by the local council.
Prompting the battle to end in somewhat of a cliffhanger with the battle set to recommence Friday.
On resumption of the match set on Friday the World No. 5 showed tougher character, he was magnificent in play, rolling off the match with five set heartbreaking defeat of the Scot to end his hopes at the championships.
The defeat already leaves many British with the question, if the 36 years –old with three grands slam titles could still have the motivation to come back next year . While the Greek 24 year-old quest for a grand slam title continues but grass is far from his best surface. But he could cause more upset en-route, if he makes it to the final.

While, action returns in the All England Club with Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek continuing their top flight billing Sunday in the fourth round of the championships.
The Serbian will continue his bid for a fifth consecutive Wimbledon title against Polish Hubert Hurkacz at the Centre Court. Djokovic had defeated Warinka and he is yet to drop a set in the run so far, extending his winning run at Wimbledon to 32 matches against the 17th seed.
Olympic champion Belinda Bencic takes on Iga Swaiatek while Ukrainian wildcard Elina Svitolina face former World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka . The action on Centre Court resumes mid-Sunday.
