WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS: BRUME, AMUSAN AND OTHERS COMPETE IN BENIN CITY
Nigeria ‘flight’ queen Ese Brume and sprint hurdle star Tobi Amusan competes at the National Athletics trial at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City starting Wednesday.
Tobi Amusan who is fresh from winning the 2023 Diamond League athletics series in Stockholm, Sweden on Sunday is thrilled to be at the Nigeria Athletics trial. The world record holder in 100m hurdles made the revelation in her Facebook Social Media platform, Wednesday.
‘’Guess who’s in Benin City, Edo State for the Nigeria National trials ahead of the World Championships in Budapest’’ Amusan said.
She further added, ‘ I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be competing this morning at the Nigeria National trials at 9.40am in the 100m hurdles semifinal at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin city, Edo State.’’
Meanwhile, she has encouraged athletics and sports loving Nigeria to be at the stadium to watch the’’ very best’’ of Nigerian athletes compete for honours from Wednesday, 5th July to Friday, 7th July 2023.
The trials is the selection ground for athletes that will represent the country at the World Athletics Championship to be held in Budapest.
I would be happy to see the stadium packed with spectators. The world reigning champion in 100m hurdles with a record time of 12.12s said.
