DIAMOND LEAGUE: AMUSAN FAVOURITE TO WIN STOCKHOLM AFTER PLACING SECOND LAUSANNE

Nigeria ‘s world champion in 100m hurdles Tobi Amusan finished second  behind Camacho-Quinn at the Lausanne Diamond League 2023 in Switzerland on Friday as she looks set for Stockholm.

The Nigeria hurdle queen who finished third at the Golden Spike League in Ostrava, Czech Republic, achieving a season‘s best time of 12.47s behind Camacho- Quinn and Tia Jones in second position improved on her performance less than a week after the race in Ostrava.

She did race to a season’s best time of 12.45s beating Tia Jones to claim the second position, the American came third in a return time of 12.47s while Camacho-Quinn set a new meet record of 12.34s.

The reigning world champion having smashed the record at the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon in April last year in the women’s 100m hurdles final during the World Athletics Championships, 12.12s will continue her quest to improve to a better time.

And her attention shifts to the Stockholm Diamond League on Sunday and she will race in women’s 100m hurdles.

Expectedly, the world champion will have stiff competition from European Indoor champion Reeta Hurske and Alaysha Johnson who has been in fantastic form this season with Season Best time of 12.70s

Tobi Amusan who is on a mission of winning another milestone, having won the Diamond League final in 2022 with a time of 12.29s. Obviously is working to defend her Diamond League title.

Tobi Amusan also has in her medal shelf the Commonwealth Games gold medal which she won in 2022 in Birmingham.
