CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL: WHAT TO EXPECT FROM CITY VS INTER IN FINAL
The 2023 UEFA Champions League final will be played on 10th June between Manchester City and Inter Milan in Istanbul.
English Champions Manchester City is seeking to complete a treble tomorrow night, Inter Milan on the heels of their fantastic performance this season and 13 years ago attained immortality when Jose Mourinho led Inter to claim Serie A title and Coppa Italia when they face Bayern Munich at Santiago Bernabeu to completed the treble with a 2-0 victory. With the goals coming from Diego Milito in 2010 final. Obviously the question in asking is who will be the hero in 2023.
City who had done well under Pep Guardiola in the past few years but without an European title since 53 years ago when they Manchester base club triumphed in the final of the European Cup Winners’ Cup, bating Polish side Gomik Zabrze 2-1 in Vienna.
However, tomorrow’s final in Istanbul will be a true test for Pep who took three seasons to win a Premier League and it is expected if Man City play as well as they can then the title could be theirs but Inter are are set up with characters that City often struggle with.
The sit back format of typical Italian teams or clubs is always tactical play that most European clubs or teams find difficult to cope with. Their strikers most times deliver using progress, precise and clinical finishing when on counter attack.
Guardiola’s could lack the experience with City following his last few years’ performance of not winning the Champions League. Although his side should good character and mentality in their last show against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid that they can beat anyone at their best.
But they won’t have to be far below their best if they are to give Inter a chance.
Obviously plenty supports will come for Manchester City with over 20,000 fans expected to be at the Istanbul, which many have been spotted visiting the Blue Mosque, a top tourist attractions.
The task is huge. Pep has only made two Champions League finals with Man City in the last seven years.
For Inter Milan, they could enjoy the home boy support with Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu expected to play. He is already attracting attention of local media.
