O2 ARENA SHOWDOWN: ANTHONY JOSHUA TO RETIRE IF HE LOSES TO JERMAINE FRANKLIN

British- Nigeria boxer Anthony Joshua has confirmed he will retire from boxing if he loses against Jermaine Franklin on Saturday at the O2 Arena.

The two time world heavyweight champion who is making a return to the ring for the first time since losing to Oleksandr Usyk will face the American seeking to win first professional fight since 202. The 33 year-old admitted it is not about the money that is leading him to fight but it’s about the competition which is the most important. But will step away if he loses a third successive bout.

“I will. I will retire if I lose. I’m not here to battle people. If people want me to retire I will retire,” Joshua told MailOnline according to Sky Sports.

“I’m not going to fight if people don’t want me too. I’s not even the money. It’s about the competitor in you. That’s what’s important.

“It [pressure] comes with the business and it comes with the territory, I know that.

The two heavyweight champion further said that when he retires he will be chilling to enjoy his laudable career to love life despite the pressure of people wanting him to fight.

Joshua could win in impressive fashion considering his long spanning career experience having made his Olympic Games appearance 10 years ago. This relative when compared with Jermaine Franklin who is 29 years old and has had 22 fights, won 21, stopped 14 of his opponents. But lost his last fight against Dillian Whyte.

Meanwhile, some pundits believe the former world heavyweight champion’s toughness after losing his last fights considering a bit of turmoil, mentally, emotionally and the hunger to come back to the ring could queue him to bouncing back to confidence for a win.
