AFCON 2023 QUALIFIERS: SUPER EAGLES SET FOR ABUJA SHOWDOWN AGAINST GUINEA- BISSAU
Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on Guinea-Bissau in 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON double header qualifiers at the Abuja National Stadium on Friday and Monday at the the Estadio 24 Setembro in Bissau on 27 March, 2023.
The Nigeria manager has already named a 23 man squad for the double header fixtures led by team captain Ahmed Musa and the attack expectedly will have Victor Osimhen one of the world’s current top scorers.

Nigeria currently top the AFCON Group A standings with 6 points from two games, while Guinea – Bissau’s Djurtus is second in the group with 4 points from same number of games, Sierra Leone occupies the third position with 1 point and Sao Tome and Principe is fourth with no pint.
Nigeria’s manager Santos Peseiro’s who has named his squad has four players seeking their debutant for the Super Eagles, namely Victor Sochima, Kingsley Aniagboso, Bruno Onyemaechi and Daniel Barmeyi.
Off the back of a 2-1 win against Sierra Leone to get their qualification positive track and 10 -0 demolition of Sao Tome and Principe on June 13.
Obviously the ambition of Pesiero could demand for more goals towards clinching the expected three points, a repeat of their outing in the Group stage of 2021 AFCON tournament when both teams met last with Nigeria winning 2-0 at Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua. Thanks to goals from Sadiq Umar and William Troost- Ekong.
Nigeria is currently unbeaten on the home turf since 2021 and the crowd at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja definitely will provide additional support for the home team.
Meanwhile Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen has expressed confidence ahead of the game assuring Nigerians the team is working hard for the three points and qualification to the AFCON.
Osimhen has netted 15 goals for his country and presently leads the goal chart for 2023 AFCON qualifiers with 5 goals ahead of Senegal’s Sadio Mane 4 goals, Dango Quattara of Burkina Faso and Jorginho of Guinea- Bissau who has 3 goals respectively.
