FORMER SUPER EAGLES COACH ROHR APPOINTED NEW COACH OF BENIN NATIONAL TEAM

Former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has been appointed the coach of Benin national team, the Squirrels.

The decision to engage the services of the German gaffer was reached after the Executive Committee meeting of Benin Football Federation in Port Novo, Tuesday. Rohr, who was sacked by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF in December 2021 after a string of poor results will return to his sojourn in Africa.

The 69 year-old has had experience of African football having coached Gabon, Niger, Burkina Faso and Nigeria. He will now return to the continent after his last appointment with Nigeria on 21 February according to reports.

The German immediate assignment is to execute the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Rwanda on March 20 for the African tournament which will be hosted by Ivory Coast. The German who has won AFCON bronze with Nigeria was a pundit at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022.
