BRITAIN’S RICHEST MAN JIM RATCLIFFE BID FOR MANCHESTER UNITED TAKEOVER
Britain’s richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe has initiated a takeover bid of Manchester United following the incumbent owners the Glazer family put up the club for sale back in November.
The Times report claims that the Chairman of INEOS Chemical Group has formally joined the process, according to the spokesman.Others interested in buying Manchester United must register with the American Bank being facilitated by “The Raine Group” for the potential sale.
Jim Ratcliffe had initially expressed interest in buying Chelsea but it didn’t materialize having lost in his attempt to Todd Boehly who is splashing cash to improve the fortune of the London club. The 70 year-old is the first to publicly bid for the takeover which the Glazers family are seeking 5billion pound for “Red Devils”.
It is also expected interest will come from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the US and some Asia bidders in exchange for gear from the Glazers family who are one of America’s richest families.
The Glazer family who took over Manchester United in 2005 have seen the club win three trophies in nine years since Sir Alex Ferguson left despite spending more than 1billion pound on new players.
Jim who had said earlier in summer according to the spokesman, “if the club is for sale, Jim is a potential buyer” is worth 15billion pound and he is looking for long-time ownership of the club.
The petrochemical tycoon who runs multi-billion-pound chemical giant INEOS, owns French club Nice, Swiss side Lausanne, plus a third of Formula One team Mercedes, although back in May he had a rejected 4.25billion pound offer for Chelsea rejected.
However, he could be a strong boost for Erik ten Hag and Co in the next subsequent matches knowing the aura of Ratcliffe is closer to “Red Devils Arena” which according to the spokesman “We have formally put ourselves into the process.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United came from behind to beat city rivals Manchester City 2-1 on Saturday to occupy the 4th place in the table standing of the English Premier League.
