WORLD CUP QATAR: GHANA COACH ADDO CONFIDENT AHEAD CLASH WITH URUGUAY

The Black Stars of Ghana will advance to the next round of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar if they secure three points against Uruguay in the last Group H match to be played on Friday.

Ghana are second in the group after a 3-2 win over South Korea, although the Otto Addo led team went down against the Portuguese in their first group match, he insists their game against Uruguay is just ‘normal’ and the Black Stars will progress from the Group H.

With Uruguay having drew against South Korea and losing to Portugal which placed La Celesta at the bottom of the group with a point, the same as the latter who have a superior goal difference. The team will definitely be all out for a win and sustain the image of the country’s placement in world football.

For the West African football giants the game is a massive chance of making it to the last 16 with a win on Friday, obviously the Black Stars will be desperate to win. However, their coach Otto Addo sees the match as just ‘normal’ believing the player’s improvement from every game at the tournament will be a major factor going into the game.

“We are confident enough to know that we can beat them and make it to the next round. We are gradually picking up and I know the boys will show a lot of fight and a lot of passion.

“I am sure our efforts will be rewarded and we will go to the next stage.” Otto Addo, is quoted by Goal in a Ghana FA Website.

He had earlier said that Ghana missing in the semi of the 2010 World Cup was a sad experience,

 “It’s a normal game, but like everyone, I was really sad in 2010 when that incident [of Luis Suarez denying Ghana a certain goal] happened and we missed our chance to proceed to the semis. But it is 12 years ago and Friday will be a different approach.” Addo said.

Ghana are former African champions and made their debut World Cup appearance in 2006 but crashed out in the last 16 after advancing from the group stage. Four years later the Black Stars missed out from reaching the semi- final after Asamoah Gyan had missed a last minute penalty that would have sent the team to a biggest achievement at the World Cup. Suarez had stopped a certain goal with his hand. Although Uruguay eventually won through a penalty shootout to advance to the last four.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s performance at the 2014 tournament ended at the group stage, it led to fans’ cry and the process of rebuilding the team with introduction of young players and some invited from diaspora of Ghanaian descendants was unveiled for better reault.

A win for the Black Stars against La Celesta will obviously fly the country to join Senegal and Morocco who have already advanced to the knock-out stage.
