ROGER FEDERER ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT FROM TENNIS

Roger Federer, Philanthropist and tennis star has announced his retirement from professional tennis the game that earned him wealth and fame.

The 20 time Grand Slam winner who is one of the richest men to ever play the game wrote on his social media page on Thursday, stating the past three years have presented him with challenges in the form of injuries and surgeries, which he has worked hard to return to full competitive tennis. But it is time to quite! After the Laver Cup next week.

The 41 year-old has been on the ATP tour since 1998, racking up 103 singles titles and third most Grand Slam title among men’s players in tennis history, only behind Novak Djokovic (21) and Rafael Nadal (22)

In 2003 the Switzerland tennis legend did set up the Roger Federer Foundation, announcing his philanthropic activities- numerous other charity events. He has earned a huge amount of money from his career. His net worth is estimated to be as much as $550 million after a career which has seen him earn almost $1 billion in endorsements and over $115 million from playing tennis.

The tennis icon ranked in the unique club of so called “billion dollar athletes” including the likes of Michael Jordan, Lionel Messi and Lewis Hamilton. In his sparkled career! He made a breakthrough in 1998 earning $28,000 and 400 times as much within the space of 10 years.

In his rising profile he was leading the game worldwide in his career peaked 2007, which brought him $10.1 million earnings

Obviously, a phenomenal on the courts, giving him one of the highest figures in the history of the sport. Incredibly he has earned over $115 million from tournaments. Only Rafael Nadal ($131 million) and Novak Djokovic (159 million) have earned more from tennis.

In a farewell bid acknowledging his heartfelt retirement via social media. It read, “To my tennis family and beyond. Of all the gifts that tennis has given me over the years, the greatest, without a doubt, has been the people I’ve met along the way: my friends, my competitors, and most of all the fans who give the sports its life. Today, I want to share some news with you all.

“As many of you know, the past three years have presented me with challenges in the form of injuries and surgeries. I’ve worked hard to return to full competitive form.

“But I also know my body’s capacities and limits, and its message to me lately has been clear. I am 41 years old. I have played more than 1,500 matches over 24 years. Tennis has treated me more generously than I ever would have dreamt, and now I must recognise when it is time to end my competitive career.”

Federer the legend! Whose income has primarily come from a mixture of earnings on the court and endorsements of brands in advertising and wearing of their clothing is anticipatory expected to continue his philanthropic Roger Federer Foundation after the Laver Cup in London.
