WILLIAMS SISTERS BEATEN IN FIRST ROUND DOUBLES

The Williams sisters, Venus and Serena lost in the first round of the US Open a set- back in presumed mixed doubles farewell Grand Slam.

The sisters made their last whirl four years after their last slam appearance together and a recall six years on from the most recent of their 14 titles. This time they fell to the superior power of Czech’s 17 year -old teenager Linda Noskova and veteran Lucie Hradecka, 37 year-old at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

Obviously the tournament sounds like a final double for the sisters following Serena’s decision to “evolving away” from tennis, an intent of her retiring from the sports brought her fame and wealth after the US Open.

Although Hradeka and Noskova were exciting in play in the first set, they hung on taking advantage in the tie break, with super pass down the line threading on set-point to virtual silence. The veteran Hradecka obviously was looking hungrier and was pivotal to the Czech’s double success.

But Serena gave her last in the doubles at the Arthur Ashe Stadium when a break of the Serna serve settled the contest. Meanwhile, the William sisters had an early break to keep hope alive but the pace wasn’t good enough to claim a win in the match, losing in a 6(5)-7 4-6.

Meanwhile, Serena is on the court at the point of compilation and delayed of this report, taking on Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic in the third round, early on Saturday, Nigeria local time with Tomljanovic 7-5 in the first set.
