CANADIAN OPEN: EVANS TO BATTLE PABLO AS HUBERT FACE RUUD IN SEMI- FINAL

Dan Evans secured a semi- final place at the ATP Masters in Canada coming from a set down to beat America’s Tommy Paul.

The British tennis star overcame Tommy in 1-6 6-3 6-4 to reach the semi-final. The 32 year-old Evans and Brit No.2 will now face Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta. Pablo had outshined Evans country compatriot Jack Draper in the quarter final in what would have been an all British semi.

In another quarter-final match Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz pulled a surprise shock over Australia’s Nick Kyrios in 5-7 6-3 6-2. His comeback win sets him up against Norwegian Casper Ruud in the semi-final, Casper sterling performance over Canada’s Felix Auger- Aliassime in 6-1 6-2 win get his quest on course and will be in the final if he beats Hubert.

Meanwhile, Evans expressed delight on his performance saying he had a good execution of his game plan having fired up himself and it was a good battle between him and Tommy.
