NIGERIANS CONGRATULATES BRUME AND AMUSAN AS SOCIAL MEDIA BUBBLES WITH REACTIONS

Nigeria’s Ese Brume produced sterling performance at the World Athletics Championships winning Silver in the Long Jump with a leap of 7.02m behind Germany’s Olympic champion Malaika Mihambo, who leaped 7.12m and Brazil’s Leticia Oro Melo did jump 6.89m to take the Bronze.

The Nigerian outstanding impact is a step ahead of her bronze medal she won at the World Athletics Championships in 2019. She becomes first Nigerian to win two championship medals in Long Jump at World Athletics Championships.

Earlier, Tobi Amusan had made the nation proud with a gold medal in the women’s 100m hurdles breaking the world record twice with an impeccable record of 12.06seconds, having smashed her the world record in the semi-final in a time 12.12m.

With the performance Nigerians have taking to their social media platforms to congratulate their gallant athletes, especially Tobi Amusan and Ese Brume.

The President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Tonobok Okowa did send his congratulatory messages to Tobiloba Amusan and Ese Brume for their victory,

“A big congratulations to Amusan and Brume for this historic moment. Our struggle was not in vain. They have made Nigeria pround. They have given me more hoe and the courage to do more for athletics irrespective of the challenges we are facing. I thank God for what He has done for Nigeria through Amusan and Brume,” Okowa said.

He had also told the Guardian in a telephone chat “I can’t believe what has happened in the history of Nigeria’s athletics”.

Presidential candidate, Peter Obi and Ahmed Bola Tinubu reacted, “Following Tobi Amusan‘s record- breaking gold, Ese Brume grabs silver in the long jump event at the WAC in Oregon, USA. We’re a great country blessed with talents ready to rule the world. Appropriate leadership is key. Congratulations, dear Ese”- PO.

Bola Tinubu captioned his post, “Congratulations to our own Ese Brume for winning a silver medal in the Women Long Jump at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Here is wishing the entire Team Nigeria the very best at the championship.”

Nigeria’s football national team coach Jose Peseiro praised the outstanding performance of the duo of Tobi and Ese,

“Tobi Amusan set a world record and won the gold medal, while Ese Brume won the silver medal, and both brought home two medals for Nigeria from the World Athletics Championship. This is the ambition I like to see in Nigerians! Congratulations to Team Nigeria!”

Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa also wrote, “On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I congratulate Tobi Amusan and Ese Brume on the victories at the #WorldAthleticsChampionships in Oregon, USA.”

Ese Brume had sparked up the social media before Tobi Amusan shattered the world record in women’s 100m hurdles the first gold for Nigeria at the World Athletics Championships.

With this medals at the athletics championship, Ese Brume and Tobi Amusan joins the league of the great which includes Groria Alozie who won silver medal in a time of 12.44seconds for Nigeria at the World Athletics Championships In Seville, Spain in 1999.

Meanwhile Tobi Amusan is the reigning African Games, African Championships, Commonwealth Games, and Diamond League champions. On the part of Ese Brume, she was the only Nigerian to win a medal at the last edition of the world championships in Qatar, Doha in 2019. The Delta State born, Ese was also Nigeria’s only medalist at the Tokyo Olympics as well as the last World Indoor Championship in Belgrade in March this year.
