ADESANYA READY FOR PEREIRA AFTER RETAINING TITLE AGAINST CANNONIER

Nigeria’s Israel Adesanya showed his martial arts artistry with a triumphant win against Jarred Cannonier to secure his records of 12-0 win in the Middleweight category at the T-Mobile Arena Las Vegas, Sunday.

The Middleweight champion has called on Alex Pereira for his next fight in his quest to continue perfect record in the weight class. In the fight against Cannonier, Adesanya was a master in his superiority with his striking kicks.

The American opponent obviously was not a match for Adesanya as the Nigerian ‘The Last Stylebender’ used a decent style keeping Jarred at bay while picking him apart with jabs. He combined the tactics with kicks to the body and legs to weaken the American.

His overall performance was optimal with struck on his opponent 163-141, in significant strikes he recorded 116-90.

The Nigeria ‘Power bag’ as some pundit call him is ready to avenge his two defeats during his days in the kickboxing to Pereira. Adasenya insist he is a better mixed martial arts fighter than the Brazilian.

Meanwhile, Pereira defeated Sean Strickland on the undercard of UFC 276 but the Last Stylebender said he is ready to renew their rivalry. Adesanya praised Pereira on his win over Strickland, citing that his precious fight with him was an error as he is now a better fighter with stronger punches that will send him to skates and he will froze the Brazilian.

The 32 year old Nigerian who was brilliant in the fight executing significant movement and control of distance to out- strike Periera, scored from the judges 49- 46 49- 46 and 50- 45 at the end of 5 round.

This is Adesanya’s 6th straight successful title defence and 12 -0 win in the weight category. With the accolades of the win he joins fellow Nigerian and welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman as the fourth fighter to win 12 straights fights in a weight category.

Others that achieved same feat are former middleweight champion Anderson Silva and former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The flamboyant Nigeria mixed martial arts fighter has prior wins over Robert Whittaker , defeating him twice and Yoel Romero, Paulo Cost and Marin Vettori.
