DANIIL MEDVEDEV COULD MISS ROLAND GARROS

Former World No.1 Daniil Medvedev expects to be sidelined for 1-2 months after he undergone a hernia surgery, putting him in danger of missing the French Open.

The US Open champion had wrote of his Twitter page on Saturday to announce he has been dealing with “a small hernia” in recent months.

The Russian now World.2 wrote “Together with my team I have decided to have a small procedure done to fix the problem,”

Medvedev further said that he will work hard to be back soon on court but with Roland Garros starting on the 22 May the prospecting of participating is slim “I will likely be out for the next 1-2 months,” Medvedev post said.

Daniil who has been in top form having hit the No.1 in the ATP rankings for the first time early this year before dropping to Djokovic was tipped to regain the No.1 spot. But with the setback and the 26 year-old exited from the Miami Open on Thursday, he might need to work harder upon return if he dreams the top spot.

Medvedev lost to Raphael Nadal in the Australian Open final in January but had won the US Open in September before becoming the World.1 in February.
