SUPER EAGLES ARRIVE CAPE VERDE AHEAD OF FIFA WORLD CUP QUALIFIER AGAINST BLUE SHARKS

Nigeria’s quest for qualification to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will continue with the arrival of the Super Eagles, Monday at the Island of Mindelo, Cape Verde for Tuesday’s match against the Blue Sharks.

The Nigerian team is deflated with the departure of some players plying their trade in the UK , due to the unchanged stance of UK Authorities concerning protocols and guidelines that are observed by anyone returning to the country after visiting a country on the COVID-19 red label, of which Cape Verde is one.

The players that have returned to the UK are defenders, Aina Olaoluwa, William Ekong and Leon Balogun. Others are striker Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheancho, Oghenekaro Etebo and Ayodele-Aribo.

The match will be played at the 5,000 capacity, Estadio Municipal Aderito Sena and the Super Eagles coming fresh from the 2-0 victory over Liberia in Lagos with the two goals scored by Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheancho.

The Blue Sharks of Cape  Verde are the underdog going into the match as the Super Eagles still have an array of Europe based super stars such as Ahmed Musa, Samuel Kalu, Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon.

The three time African champions are expected to consolidate leadership of the Group C with a win in Cape Verde to brighten their chance of qualification to the next stage.
