ROMELU LUKAKU RETURNS TO CHELSEA SIGNS A FIVE YEAR CONTRACT

Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku has returned to Chelsea after a career at Everton, Manchester United and Inter Milan. The 2019/2020 Europa League Player of the season who previously joined Chelsea when he was 18 and spent three seasons between 2011 and 2014 with the London club, signed a five year contract. He is expected to add attacking firepower to Thomas Tuche’s squad of European Champions.

Lukaku who is one of the most prolific striker in Europe, netting 24 goals to win the MVP and crown the Serie A Champions with Inter Milan said of his coming ‘home,’

‘I’m happy and blessed to be back at this wonderful club,’ said Lukaku.

The former Everton top notch striker also makes a comeback to Stamford Bridge a decade after he originally joined the club. According to the club statement the Belgium international has netted 80 goals for club and country in the past two seasons alone, adding a ruthless streak to the tenacity and touch that have defined his game so long.

‘It’s been a long journey for me: I came here as a kid who had a lot to learn, now I’m coming back with a lot of experience and more mature.

‘The relationship I have with this club means so much to me, as you know. I have supported Chelsea as a kid and now to be back and try to help them win more titles is an amazing feeling. Lukaku added

The former Manchester United striker, who is positively aggressive in the box and equally adept at holding the ball up with his back to goal as well as running into channels with purpose and intent, scored 113 goals in the English elite division during his eight years’ experience in England .  

Lukaku, maintained that the structure and desires of the London club perfectly suites his ambition ‘The way the club is going fits my ambitions perfectly at 28 and just coming off winning Serie A. I think this opportunity comes at the right time and hopefully we can have a lot of success together.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia is delighted with the coming ‘home’ of Lukaku, ‘Romelu Lukaku is quite simply one of the world’s best strikers and goalscorers. We are absolutely delighted to be bringing him back to the club he loves, and are excited to be adding his talent to our Champions League-winning squad.

Marina Granovskaia did state that the club is looking to build on last season’s success, and Lukaku will play a pivotal role in achieving their set targets, obviously she feels all Chelsea fans will join the club in saying welcome home, Romelu!

The 28 year-old is Belgium all time- top scorer with 64 goals in 98 games during his golden period for his national team. As he pens a five year contract the atmosphere looks bright to add more domestic and continental honours to his childhood club he supports. Chelsea!
