BREAKING:  D’TIGERS SUFFER SECOND DEFEAT 92-99 TO GERMAN IN TOKYO OLYMPIC

Nigeria’s male Basketball Team D’Tigers quest for qualification from the group stage at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics Games continued, Wednesday with Nigeria narrowly losing 92-99 to Germany.

With the team coming from a disappointing loss to Australia in the first match and Germany losing to Italy, there was need for both teams to improve on their previous performance. Maimi Heat Point guard Gabe Vincent started pretty fine winning points for the Nigeria with the D’Tigers rises high keeping possession.

But the Germans inspired by Orlando Magic’s Moritz Wagner and Danilo Barthel responds quickly gets two points, fouled and converts for additional points. Nigeria pushing for more leveled score at 5-5. At the end of the first quarter Germany led 21-24. Okafor, Metu, were brilliant working to close up the points for Nigeria.

And at half-time the points were tired (50-50) and the Nigeria team showing better performance from their previous game against Australia with Ahciuwa and Nwora taking the Africans 9 points ahead of their opposition, D’Tigers led (66-55). But Germany took control from the fourth quarter with the third quarter tied (74-74), the German pushing the Nigerian players to their defense with more points coming to the European country.

Nigeria, obviously fell apart from this point, having exhausted so much energy and their nerve for defense becoming jittery in their quest to close up the few points behind. Germany observing the pressure from the Nigerian team quickly gained more points and led 91-98 with just 51 seconds left in the match.

The Europeans defended to maintained their lead with both teams gaining a point to a narrow the win 92-99 against African gallant team, D’Tigers

Though, D’Tiger could itch for a regret if they do not win their next game Saturday against Italy for a chance of qualification. Having led at a point with 12 points with Miye Oni and Jordan Nwora scoring 15 and 33points respectively. The Nigeria against Italy match will be played at the Saitama Super Arena.
