EURO 2020: ITALIAN PRIME MINISTER MARIO TO WELCOME CHAMPION AS MOURINHO NAMES WALKER BEST PLAYER

Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi celebrated his country’s victory at the Euro 2020 in their game against England which ended on penalties. In the scheduled celebration he will receive the team on Monday.

Celebration had continued Sunday night as thousands took to the street to affirm the Azurri’s victory at the Wembley as the continental champion with 34 matches unbeaten run. Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma had saved the final kick from England and Arsenal forward Saka. Though, England took the lead in the early mark of the first half in just 2 minute, through Luke Shaw, who powered in an effort strike from the left wing position but Italy equalised through L. Bonucci in the 67 minute.

The match went into extra time before the penalty shoot-out which the Italian won 3-2, the Government and People of Italy thanked the team, Coach Roberto Mancini and his staff for their performance, describing it in the statement,  

“an extraordinary game and a special team spirit in addition to great individuality.”

Meanwhile, former Chelsea manager and new coach of Roma Jose Mourinho has picked from England defender Kyle Walker as the best player at the just concluded Euro 2020. He decribed Walker as an “absolute animal” during the tournament.

With the Three Lions reaching their first major tournament final since 1966 World Cup when England beat Germany at the World Cup final, Mourinho said “I think Kyle Walker was Phenomenal.

He sees the England international as the best, keeping his momentum from the beginning of the tournament till the end, covering the centre-backs on the opposite side because of his strategic role which he has also played for his club.

“For me, phenomenal. From the first to the last minute, he was in that element.

Meanwhile, some pundits have described the England team as one of the most improved teams in Europe and one to watch-out at the next FIFA World Cup.
