EURO 2020: ENGLAND GERMANY READY FOR WEMBLEY SHOWDOWN IN ROUND OF SIXTEEN
England battle Germany in Euro 2020, Tuesday with football expert and columnist Jamie Redknapp strongly wishing England should go for the punches and not play safe in the round of 16 game at Wembley.
“Don’t go safe. Let’s go out swing punches. If Mason Mount and Jack Grealish are played together, I’d be nervous if I was in the Germany side.” Jamie Reddknapp wrote in Sky Sports.
With the English team obviously nervous in their last previous game against Scotland, although, they did pretty good against Croatia but slightly better against Czech Republic. You could see a little bit of anxiety and caution in their play.
Germany, a traditionally tactical team with sound techniques in their play will come into the match with so much ego just like England but comparatively they have always shown the character to be a better team. And for England their surprises in shocking teams when they seem like the underdog definitely will boost their confidence into the match.
Meanwhile, England is expected to start Jack Grealish from the left side with either Luke Shaw or Ben Chiwell from the left full back. Chelsea’s Reece James or Manchester City’s Kyle Walker will start from the right full back and Harry Maguirre is expected to protect the defense from the central position with John Stones and Tyrone Mings supporting from the back three. Manson Mount with his deeply play, excitingly flowing between the midfield and the attack could be a sure bet to start the game with Rashford and Harry Kane leading the England attack.
Germany with one of the world’s best goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer who also doubles as the captain of the team will definitely go foot attack with Chelsea’s Kai Hartvertz and support from experience Bayern striker Thomas Muller. The match is expected to be an open play with artistry of good football from both teams with 45 thousand spectators expected to watch the match at the Wembley Stadium.
