Nigeria will face the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the second leg of their international friendly on Tuesday without the services of William Troost Ekong due to injury.Jamiu Collins is likely to miss the encounter following a knock.
T he Nigeria team deflated with the absence of some key players and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen withdrawal from the doubleheader friendly Nigeria lost 1-0 to Cameroon, Friday at the Wiener Neustadt Stadion. The unchallenged Ekong was substituted in the 90 minute in what looked like a pulled hamstring, he was subsequently assisted by the Super Eagles medical staff for ease of pain. Galatasaray and former Nigeria U20 defender Valentine Ozornwator replaced Ekong in his debut for the Super Eagles.
Jamiu Collins is also doubtful for the second leg friendly, although he finished the first leg of the encounter played Friday, it emerged he picked up a knock in the game.
With the injury blow for the Super Eagles in the back-to-back friendly, coach Gernot Rohr has called up 22 year-old Vincent Onovo as a replacement for injured Ekong in the second leg encounter. Onovo who ply his trade with Hungarian top flight club Ujpest, finishing the season in sixth position, is likely to make the starting line up in his anticipated debutant for the Super Eagles. He made 35 appearances in all competitions for the club last season.
