QUADRE SET TO DEFEND HER TITLE AT THE 43rd CBN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP
The qualifying rounds of the 43rd Central Bank of Nigeria Senior Tennis Open Championship ended on Sunday with the main draw served-off Monday at the Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
With the main singles to be played in the round of 64, expectations are high with top seed Joseph Imeh leading home stars to the championship. Other men’s players that will be part of the event action include Christian Paul, Clifford Enosoregbe, Abdulmumuni Babalola and Shehu Lawal among others.
In the women’s category which will be observed in the round of 32, back to back Champion Oyinlomo Quadre is one of the top stars and a player to beat. She won the title in 2019 and 2020.
Former champion Serah Adegoke is another winner that will embrace the CBN Tennis event. Other women players that have geared up for the tennis open championship are Christy Agugbon, Blessing Samuel, Aanu Aiyebusi, Blessing Anuna, Ronke Akingbade. Also US base Marylove Edward is expected to be in action at the Tennis Championship.
With this year’s championship already set to attract attention with the (N1, 000,000), One Million Naira prize money and a trophy. Former champion Serah Adegoke has set her eyes on reclaiming the title from current champion Oyinlomo Quaadre who is the back to back champion.
