ALL ENGLAND FINAL AS KANTE, MAHREZ ARE SHORTLISTED FOR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AWARD

Chelsea triumphed over Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final second leg Wednesday at the Stamford Bridge with a 2-0 victory having secured a 1-1 draw in Madrid in the first leg. With the result Chelsea seal their place in the final to battle Manchester City in an all-England team final.

Meanwhile, Chelsea duo of French international N’Golo Kante and German Kai Havertz has been shortlisted for Champions League Award.

Also on the list is Algerian forward Karim Riyad Mahrez and teammate at Manchester City Ruben Dias  

Karim Mahrez had scored a brace in their second leg semi-final against Paris Saint- Germain at the Etihad to power Pep Guardiola’s men to their first ever final with 4-1 aggregate win.

N’Golo Kante on his part was outstanding for Chelsea in their first leg and second leg semi-final match against Real Madrid, bridging the gap between the defensive midfield and the attacking midfield with his offensive play coupled with decent creative passes.

Obviously, the player with the highest vote will be crown Champions League Best Player.

Meanwhile, Algerian international Riyad Mahrez becomes the second player to score in both legs of the Champion League semi-final for in an English team. The 30 year-old, former Leicester striker also makes history as Algeria’s top goal scorer in the Champions League. He overtakes Brahimi Yacine as Algeria’s top scorer in the Champions Leg with ten goal. Mahrez won the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Algerian National team in 2019.
