America rising tennis star Coco Gauf will battle at the semi-final of Adelaide tennis tournament in Australia against Swiss Belinda Bencic in her adventure for a second WTA career final.

Coco who has been impressive at the tournament qualifying stage and coming from three set down to winning four matches reaching the semi-final, defeated Shelby Rogers 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.

The No.2 seed Belinda Bencic, 23, had battled with injury before making a surprise impression in 2019 winning her first title at the Dubai Duty Free Championships and made her first Grand Slam appearance at the US Open defeated Storm Sanders 5-2, 6-4.

Bencic ranked now No.12 is gradually regaining her form having been ranked No.4 early 2020 and played one tournament before the Covid-19 lockdown finished in the third round of the Australian Open, where she was defeated by Elise Mertens in straights sets. Setting her desire to win more matches, Bencic said earlier in the week,

“I just have to get in that stage where I don’t think any more about what I have to do on the court,”

She further said, Right now it’s just trying to improve everything and it’s a lot of focusing on this stuff, but you play your best tennis when you don’t have to think about your game, it happens.”

Meanwhile, rising American star, Gauf and just 16 year-old, so far is happy will the momentum of her gathering experience ahead of the game with Bencic recounting her Wimbledon,

I feel like t Wimbledon I was new, so there wasn’t really a ‘scout report’ against me; now, there is. That’s something that I have definitely have stepped up on, as well, and watched a lot more film than I normally would when I was in juniors. In juniors, you just asked a couple players how the person plays, they tell you and you just go out there on court.”  According Tennis Magazine.

With both players rising profile, expectation for the semi-final game is high and their fans are eagerly awaiting the outcome. Again, whichever way the pendulum swings both players have done creditably well but Coco remains the underdog.
