UNKNOWN GUNMEN ATTACK ADAMAWA UNITED TEAM
Nigeria Professional League side Adamawa United were attacked by unknown gunmen around Benin-Ore expressway, Friday on their trip to honour an away fixture against Lagos base club, MFM FC, on Sunday.
The players and coaching crew phones and other valuables was stolen as the gunmen ransacked their bus when the team was travelling to Lagos.
The Adamawa FC team’s driver has been reported abducted by the unknown gunmen and his whereabouts is unknown. Also, the kidnappers are reported to have demanded ransom for the abducted driver.
The team left its base to Lagos on Friday and were attacked at about 11.45pm as reported in local media. Adamawa United have been hosting their home matches at a Stadium in Gombe following the reconstruction work at the Future Stadium in Yola which was not approved by the League Management Company (LMC).
The management of Second Division club Gombe United have sympathised with the management and staff of Adamawa United over the attack by unknown gunmen.
Meanwhile, in another incident the management of Enyimba International FC have sympathised with NPFL side Wikki Tourists which their team survived an accident on their way to honour an NPFL game against Dakkada FC of Uyo.
The incident has been reported to have happened at Hawan Kibo, a town near Jos, Plateau State as the team bus caught up in flames. The match against NPFL side Dakkada FC has been postponed.
