FIBA AFROBASKET QUALIFIERS: D’TIGERS BEAT MALI 91-68 POINTS TO REMAIN UNBEATEN

D’Tigers of Nigeria maintained unbeaten run at the First FIBA Afrobasket qualifiers with another sterling performance beating Mali 91-68 points in Kigali, Rwaanda Sunday.

The Nigeria team struggled in the first quarter of the game slipping 16-13 but found their rhythm in the second quarter with an emphatic show of class winning 26-15. D’Tigers kept discipline in their game to head into the half time with a slim eight point lead 939-31).

Nigeria point guard, Ike Iroegbu who has been in top form at the qualifiers games had 17 points scores, foul steals and six assist. The coach Mike Brown led D’Tigers won the third and the fourth quarter 22-20, 30-17 as they took advantage of the weakened Malian team.

Nigeria’s captain Ike Diogu maintained consistency upfront to achieve 14 points, five rebounds to emerge the D’Tgers top performer. Compatriots, Obi Emegano and Keith Omorerah were delight in the game as they showed superiority combining well to score 20 points.

With the unbeaten run at the qualifiers, Nigeria topped her Group with six points. D’Tigers had defeated South Sudan 91-68 points and host Rwanda 83-62 points in the first two games. South Sudan and Rwanda have 3 points and 2 points respectively. The Afrobasket will be held in Kigali, Rwanda from August 24 to September 5, 2021.
