IHEANACHO SCORES TWICE AS LEICESTER WIN IN EUROPA LEAGUE
Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho was in superb performance in Europa League on Thursday in the match between Leicester City and Sporting Braga, He scored twice in their 4-0 victory.
The 24 year-old who was handed his second start in the competition in their third consecutive win in the tournament was delighted with his effort and the character of his team. However, he has cautioned that more work need to be done to ensure their progress in the tournament.
“We’re in great position in the group. We still have a long way to go, but it’s about keeping going, taking it game by game and let’s see” Iheanacho told the Europa League website.
The win keeps Leicester City at the top of the Group G with nine points which Kelechi has featured for the club in seven games across all competitions in the current campaign. He praised the effort of his team but considered one of his goal as one that he was maybe a little lucky!
“The first goal came from a rebound and I was maybe a little bit lucky with the second too. Thankfully they all count! I’m happy to score again.
“It was a good win for us. We did well, scored some good goals and deserve to win in the end.”
Kelechi who has scored three goals and providing three assists in all his seven games in the current competitions will hope for a repeat of his team performance against Sporting Braga as his club face Wolverhampton Wanderers in their English Premier League game on Sunday.
The Nigerian, Super Eagles striker has also been invited for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City on the 13th November.
