SAMUEL OGBEMUDIA STADIUM TO HOST SUPER EAGLES AGAINST LEONE STARS

Benin, Edo State, Capital will host the Super Eagles, 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone in November.

The newly refurbished Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium ahead of the Edo 2020 National Sports Festival was confirmed by Nigeria Football Federation as the venue according to Assistant Director, Media, Mr Lajire Ademola.

The stadium which has been equipped with modern facilities such as the Video Assistant Referee VAR (gadget) has played host to some AFCON 2019 third runner up, Super Eagles international matches in the past.

Meanwhile, Confederation of African Football, CAF, has appointed Kenyan, Peter Kamaku as the centre referee for the match against the Leone Stars. The 38 year-old lecture at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture, Kenya will be assisted by compatriots Gilbert Kipkoech Cheruiyot and Tony Mudanyi Kidiya as first and second assistant referees respectively.

Nigerian currently top Group I, with 6 points after victories against Benin and Lesotho in 2019, while Sierra Leone is in the bottom of the table having lost two games.
