HAMILTON BREAKS SCHUMACHER’S RECORD-“I really owe it all to these guys for their teamwork”
Brit, Lewis Hamilton smashed Michael Schumacher’s record 91 wins with all-time race winner with a step up 92nd career victory at the Portuguese Grand Prix.
The former six-time world champion took the flag high with a huge 25.592 seconds ahead of second place and compatriot Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas and third place Max Verstappen. This marks his eight win of the season.
Hamilton who equaled Michael Schumacher’s record at a previous race at the Nuerburgring,
Said after the race “I only ever dreamed of being where I am today.”
“I didn’t have a magic (crystal) ball when I chose to come here (mercedes)- and all we have ever tried to do is make the most of it every single day. We are all rowing in the same direction.
“I have got my dad (Anthony) here which is amazing and step-mum Linda- and Roscoe (first dog) – so it very special day. It’s going to take time to sink in, but I was still pushing coming across the line”
“I really owe it all to these guys for their teamwork, continually innovating and pushing the barrier ever higher every year” Hamilton added.
Meanwhile, he is expected to renew his contract with Mercedes considering the existing mutual relationship.
