US OPEN: BRITISH NO 2 KYLE EDMUND LOSS TO NOVAK DJOKOVIC
Kyle Edmund British No 2 lost to experience world No 1 Novak Djokovic 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 4-6-2-6 at the ongoing US Tennis Open. Edmund could not withstand the experience and quick play of Djokovic who has achieved 25 matches unbeaten run this year.
Djokovic who won on Saturday to equaled Rafeal Nadal’s 35th titles at the Western and Southern Open, did apply agility and experience to cope with the energy of Edmund’s response.
Although, the Brit commanded tempo and constantly struck with both wings in the opening set,
Djokovic relied more on his serve and dominated play to tie-break before finishing the set.
The British No 2 was unable to sustain a tempo in the second set and the Serb capitalized on his weakness and seized the opportunity to continue dominance in play. Edmund was broken in the fourth game with Djokovic having maintained advantage in the third with 6-4, 6-2 to overcome the Brit at the Athur Ashe Stadium.
