VICTOR OSIMHEN BECOMES AFRICAN MOST EXPENSIVE PLAYER WITH HIS MOVE TO NAPOLI
Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen has joined the Neapolitan outfit for an initial €71.2 million but further €10.1 million is guaranteed in add-ons, taking the overall fee to €81.3 million-as per French newspaper L’Equipe.
The former Charleroi of Belgium forward overtakes the £72 million Arsenal paid for Ivorian forward Nicholas Pepe who Osimhen replaced at French club Lille.
Osimhen will earn between €4 million and €5.5 million a year net without bonuses in Napol. While his former Belgium club Charleroi will receive €7 million from the transfer as a result of a sell-on percentage clause they inserted when he departed last summer from the club.
The 21 year- old Nigerian striker who catch the eyes of a whole host of clubs in Europe, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham was top score at the U17 World Cup in Chile 2015. He also scored 18 goals in 35 appearances for Lille in all competitions.
Meanwhile, he has expressed delight on his move to Napoli through his Twitter page,
“The next chapter @officialsscnapoli is a very exciting one and I can’t wait to get on the pitch with the team, I want to thank the fans through the last few weeks, and I will definitely give my all on the pitch to the common good of the club”. He said
Osimhen won Lille player of the season and Best Africa Player in Ligue 1 for 2019/2020 season.
