RAMOS SETS LA LIGA RECORD AS MADRID GOES TOP

Spain international Sergio Ramos scored from the spot to push Real Madrid to the top of the La Liga League table after his historic strike earned a goal lead before Benzema scored to put score at Aneota on Sunday, Real Madrid 2-1 win over Real Sociedad, while Barcelona played 0-0 with Sevilla to slip to second position.

The goal has put Ramos as all-time highest goal scoring defender in La Liga overtaking former Barcelona and current Netherlands national team coach Ronald Koeman, this takes him to 68 goals in his top flight career in Spanish League.

The 34 year-old, who has netted seven goals this season and scoring four goals from the spot (also he has scored a goal in the Champions League from the spot this season).

Ramos joined Real Madrid in 2005 and scored his first La Liga goal in 2005 in an away game against Malaga, he has continued to play a key role in the club success winning four La Liga titles and the Champions League on many occasions.

Although, considered by many football commentators as hard tackling defender, he has continued to make a difference with his goal scoring abilities from heading, efforts from corner kicks and spot kick.

The Real Madrid prolific defender has won both the European Championships twice and the World Cup with Spain national side. He started his professional career with Andalusian club, Sevilla in 2004.
