Ronaldo misses penalty against AC Millan, as Napoli meets Juventus in COPPA Italia Final

Football resumed in Italy after lockdown due to Coronavirous pandemic, with Juventus and AC Milan meeting in the semi-final of the Coppa Italia having both teams played 1-1 draw at the San Siro in February in the first leg.

The game started with similarities to their first leg tier, which saw Juventus win a penalty in the 13th minutes of the first half with Andrea Conti penalised for handballs, which the referee had about two-minute VAR consultation before award fo penalty to Juventus. Christian Ronaldo took the spot kick but the ball hit the bottom of the post.

Ronaldo had scored in the first leg in February which 1-1 against Milan, but was unlucky to convert the penalty to remain the score at 0-0.

AC Milan Ante Rebic was sent off for a dangerous reckless challenge on Danilo and the Milan team was reduced to ten men. Rebic had scored in the first leg semi-final game at San Siro.

The ten man Milan team was unable to find the back of the net as Juventus progress to the final of Coppa Italy on away goal aggregate, thanks to Christian Ronaldo’s penalty goal scored in the first leg, the goal, ultimately sent Juventus to the final on June 17 to confirm old lady 19th final appearance in the finals of the Coppa Italia.

Meanwhile, Napoli progress to the final to meet Juventus with the Napoli record scorer goal by Dries Mertens to the five-time Coppa Italia winner to the final.
Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen scored direct from a corner to put Inter Milan ahead and wipe out Napoli’s away goal advantage from the first leg.

Napoli responding with an offensive play, it paid off with a counter- attack when assist from Lorenzo Insigne found Belgium forward Mertens to score the winning goal with the score at 2-1 on aggregate.

Napoli’s game winner has now scored 122nd goal, one more than Slovakia’s Marek Hamsik and seven goals ahead of Napoli and Argentina legend Diego Maradona.

The final will be played under closed door on Wednesday, 17 June at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
