YOBO PAY TRIBUTE TO LATE COACH SHUAIBU AMODU

Super Eagles assistant coach Joseph Yobo has paid tribute to his late boss Shuaibu Amodu, the former Everton defender made an emotional message on his social media to express the feeling of the departure by his former international coach as Wednesday marks the 4th anniversary of his passing and Yobo said,

“Rest on Coach Shuaibu Amodu, We lost this man barely three days after coach (Stephen) Keshi’’ Yobo wrote on his Instagram. According to Goal.

“This was very tough to take, I was devastated because he was more than just a coach to me
Coach Amodu was a father – figure, he was my go-to anytime I was in doubt and needed clarity or support. You’re greatly missed Coachee, Continue to rest in peace’’

The former BCC Lions of Makurdi and El-Kanemi Warriors coach was appointed six times as Super Eagles coach and qualified Nigeria to the World Cup twice, at the thick of the country’s 2002 World Cup qualification campaign, Jo Bonfrere was sacked and the Edo born tactician was appointed the Super Eagles boss. He qualified Nigeria to South Korea Japan World Cup 2002.

Although, he was sacked after Nigeria finished third at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Mali 2002, but he made a comeback in 2008 when he was reappointed as Super Eagles coach alongside Alloy Agu, Fatai Amoo and Daniel Amokachi to guide the Super Eagles to 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Again, Amodu qualified Nigeria to the World Cup in 2010 but was fired when the Super Eagles finished third at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2010 in Angola.

Meanwhile the six time Super Eagles coach won the Federations Cup with BCC Lions of Gboko, which was founded in 1982 and El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, Founded 1986, he also coached in South Africa with Orlando Pirates.

He was appointed Technical Director of Nigeria’s National Team in May 2013, the position he held until his demise on the 10th of June, 2016.
