BORIS BECKER, ANTHONY JOSHUA PROTEST AGAINST RACISM

Nigerian- British World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Anthony Joshua and Tennis legend Boris Becker join growing list of high-profile sportsman in a protest, Black Lives Matter in Britain Saturday, it was to show their public support against racism.

The WBA, WBO an itd IBF World Heavyweight belt holder, Joshua and three-time Wimbledon Tennis Champion, Becker, who took to their twitter to speak against racism.

According to CNN, the 52 year old Becker, donned a green face mask, along with a black hoodie and cap as he mingled among the large chanting crowd in Parliament Square. While Nigerian- British Boxing World Heavyweight Champion, Joshua, joined a march in his British home town of Watford.

In a statement, the three time former Wimbledon Champion, Becker, whose first wife of seven years, Barbara Feltus, who had an African –American father, had consistently spoken against racism, told CNN back in 2012.

‘’Of course there is racism in sport, because racism is part of society.’’

Anthony Joshua who was active in his local demonstration with crowd gathered around him, said
‘’ We stand united against the virus, and the virus I’m referring to is racism.’’

In a further statement, at the Black Lives Matter protest in Watford, according to BT Sport, Anthony Joshua said

‘’ We can no longer, from today onwards, be proud, we can no longer sit back and remain silent on the senseless, unlawful killings, sly racism of another human based only on what? Their skin color.

‘’ We need to speak out in peaceful demonstrations, just like today, so well done, Watford.’’

The protest against racism comes when the global community is crying ovet the killing of unarmed black man George Floyd who died in the hands of police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.Meanwhile, Nigerian-British, Joshua, who holds WBA, WBO and IBF Heavyweight belts is being lined up to face fellow Briton, Tyson Fury in a big money title unification bout.
