FOOTBALl KENYA FEDERATION DECLARE GOR MAHIA LEAGUE CHAMPIONS
Football Kenya Federation has ended the 2019/20 Kenya Premier League due to Covid-19 pandemic.The President Nick Mwendwa has confirmed Gor Mahia are the 2019/20 Kenyan Premier League champions.
The KPL had suspended the league indefinitely and ban the use of all public sporting facilities on the orders of government directives to fight the spread of Covid-19
KPL CEO Jack Oguda Monday confirmed the league remains suspended indefinitely but on Thursday Mwendwa took to Twitter to confirm the league will not resume.
With the statement Monday that the league remains suspended indefinitely.
He added to the decision Thursday, that the league will not resume, which he is reported to have tweeted that the decision is in accordance with the rules governing Kenyan football, 68 percent of matches have been played and therefore K’Ogalo are the champions.
“Congratulations Gor Mahia! You are champions once again and you will represent Kenya on the champions league Next season. Lets do this !” Mwendwa tweeted
Meanwhile similar ban on all public sporting facilities, night curfew, and inter-county trave has been effective in most European and African countries including Nigeria, Zamabia and USA.
