NFF SUSPEND FOOTBALL ACTIVITIES IN NIGERIA
The Nigeria Football Federation has suspended and announced cessation of all football activities In Nigeria for the next four weeks as result of global Cuvid-19 pandemic.
A statement from the Glass House quoted NFF President, Mr Amaju Pinnick as giving an immediate directive on Tuesday.
‘’ The shutdown affects all on-field activities-the various National Teams, the Nigeria Professional Football League, the other Leagues, youth football programmes and even street footballs.
‘’ The cessation will be for four weeks after which the situation will be reviewed in line with events and trends worldwide’’ the statement added.
The NFF President, Pinnick advised all members of the football family to adhere and observe the various precautions as advised by Federal Ministry of Health and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
He stated in his strict advise to adherence ‘’ the only football activity that will be permitted is the work of the Nigeria Football Federation investigation committee into the death of Chineme Martins, which was inaugurated yesterday (Monday) in Benin City and will submit its report within the next 10 days’’.
The global coronavirus pandemic has led to major sports activities and competitions suspended around the world such as the Copa America, Boston and London marathon.
