NIGERIAN ATHLETICS YOUNGSTER IN THE MAKING

Okoro Oghale (L) stunned the crowd at the Delta state trials where he competed against a stacked field to finish 3rd in the 100m with a Personal Best of 10.45s. He showed great prowess in the 200m heat clocking a massive Personal Best of 21.13 to win ahead of Veteran Egwero Ogho. The youngster went on to win the final in 21.17s ahead of his elder brother Iruoghene (R) who ran 21.43.

The duo have surpassed the qualifying standards in both 100m/200m as Iruoghene also did a 10.45 in the semifinals of the men’s 100m and 21.32 in the men’s 200m heat.

Iruoghene won medals for Nigeria at the 2018 African Youth Games in Algeria and 2019 African U18/U20 Championships in Abidjan. He will be hoping to clinch a medal at the World stage. Just like Divine Oduduru in 2014.

The standard sits at 10.58s and 21.58s respectively.
